   Profile of the Admitted Student

The profile of students admitted to the Doctorate of Science in Physics is of outstanding students from undergraduate degree courses in Physics, Mathematics and Engineering, who will commit to work full-time on the academic activities in the program. These students will have a clear idea of the academic and professional objectives which they pursue, will be convinced of the relevance of their scientific work and its impact on the society in general, besides having the disposition to participate in, organize and direct study teams and academic work. Finally they must have ability in a foreign language, in order to keep up to date with the most recent scientific literature.

Requirements of Admission to the Doctorate in Science in Physics

The requirements of admission to the Doctorate in Science in Physics, apart from the general requirements of the University of Guadalajara, are the following:

  • Possess the grade (or evidence of passing final exam) of a Masters degree related to the Doctorate. Whether a particular Masters degree is sufficiently related to the Doctorate will be determined by the relevant Academic Committee.
  • Have an average grade score of at least 80 in previous study program, with documents to prove this.
  • Take an exam in at least one foreign language (comprehension in reading texts).
  • Letter explaining reasons for undertaking the Doctoral program.
  • The student must commit to dedicating themselves full-time in the activities of the Doctoral program, or present a letter signed by the Academic Committee of the program giving permission for the student to work part-time.
  • Pass the admission exam.
     

Grants:

  • Aspiring students of the Doctorate in Science in Physics can obtain a grant from CONACyT (3 years), if they cover the requirements established by this body.
     

The admissions are per semester.
