La Doctora Lara se tituló de la Licenciatura en Informática y de la Maestría en Sistemas de Información en la Universidad de Guadalajara. Obtuvo el título de Doctora en Software y Sistemas en la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.

Actualmente es profesora en la División de Electrónica y Computación en el Centro Universitario de Ciencias Exactas e Ingenierías de la Universidad de Guadalajara. Además, es miembro del Colegio de Profesionistas en Sistemas de Información de Jalisco. Asi mismo, la Dra. Lara imparte la asignatura de Reaildad Virtual.
